Carousel Horse 2
This series of paintings was inspired by the carousel in Central Park in New York City. I was amused by a child's play thing being full of angry horses. This painting is reminiscent of the 4 horses of the apocalypse, but is an actual configuration on the merry-go-round.
When I painted this, I was working on an opera set which used gold paint and leaf with over-glazing. I thought the effect was so pretty that I used it in this series of works.
